Maintenance Planning Lead Sr. Engineer

Ain Sokhna, Egypt Full Time

Job description

The incumbent will be responsible for leading and coordinating all non-shutdown maintenance activities, from initial planning to final execution. This includes developing comprehensive shutdown maintenance plans, allocating resources effectively, and closely monitoring progress to ensure timely and efficient completion. Additionally, the role involves identifying and prioritizing maintenance backlogs, implementing strategies to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Plan, lead, and organize maintenance activities to meet safety, efficiency, and reliability goals, ensuring alignment with overall plant objectives.
  • Work Coordination: Collaborate closely with Maintenance Planners and Schedulers to ensure the timely execution and review of maintenance work orders, balancing preventive, corrective, and proactive maintenance needs.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure cost-effective, timely maintenance of assets, including preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and condition-based maintenance (CBM), with a strong focus on minimizing downtime and extending equipment life.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote and enforce strict adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards, integrating these considerations into all maintenance planning and execution processes.
  • KPI Management: Monitor and adjust key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement. Ensure accurate and timely updates of weekly, monthly, and annual reports, using data to inform decision-making and strategic adjustments.
  • Strategic Analysis: Provide in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations to senior management for improving work planning, particularly in areas such as resource allocation, downtime reduction, and maintenance cost optimization.
  • Multi-Trade Coordination: Coordinate maintenance activities across various trades (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, etc.), ensuring that resources, timelines, and safety requirements are fully met. This includes integrating specialized maintenance scopes such as Turbomachinery, Welding, Structural (WS), and Control Valves (CV).
  • Shutdown Planning: Prepare detailed scopes and work packages for both planned and emergency shutdowns, ensuring all technical requirements, including equipment isolation, de-energization, and lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures, are met.
  • Opportunity Jobs: Track the progress and ensure the completion of opportunity jobs, leveraging unscheduled downtime to address maintenance needs that can improve overall plant reliability.
  • Resource Management: Oversee shutdown maintenance activities, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment, tools, spare parts, and skilled labor. Manage the coordination of complex activities involving multiple trades and disciplines.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Report on maintenance team activities, progress against maintenance plans, and any deviations or challenges encountered. Maintain comprehensive documentation to support continuous improvement initiatives and audits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with strong foundational knowledge in maintenance engineering principles.
  • Industry Experience: 8-10 years of maintenance experience in the fertilizer, oil and gas, or related heavy industries, with a proven track record in both routine and complex maintenance scenarios.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to coordinate and produce multidisciplinary plans and work packages, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Expertise in aligning resources, optimizing timeframes, and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Maximo Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Maximo or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with the ability to leverage the platform for work order management, asset tracking, and maintenance planning.
  • Trade Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant trades and maintenance scopes, including Mechanical, Turbomachinery, Welding/Structural, Control Valves, Instrumentation, and more. Ability to assess technical challenges and provide guidance for resolution.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating technical reports, maintenance strategies, and recommendations to management and other stakeholders.
  • Maintenance Techniques: Extensive hands-on experience in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) and Mechanical maintenance activities, including PM, CM, breakdown analysis, and implementation of proactive measures such as condition monitoring and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
